I continue to work on project XXI 1:32.

I smeared the halves of the back of the model with liquid epoxy resin.
Existing Uhrmodell housings must be coated with a 2-component filler to obtain a smooth surface. Without this procedure, it is impossible to obtain a surface ready for the manufacture of the matrix, since the tree with which the volumes between the frames are filled is linden and, when impregnated with any liquid, it becomes shaggy.
But before covering the surface with putty, it must be covered with epoxy resin.Click image for larger version

Interesting! Linden, known as basswood here to many carvers, is very prone to "shaggy" as you describe. It's a great carving wood, but I use tupelo wood almost exclusively now since it doesn't fuzz like linden/basswood.

Sam, where do you get your Tupelo? I love it for animal and bird carving, always on the lookout for a source, tends to vary a lot in availability.

Hey Chris- Yep, it can be hard to find! I got my last couple pieces from a carver friend of mine that lives in Idaho (from her stash). Have you tried: https://stores.jaymescompany.com/

I’ve gotten some wood from them in the past.
            There’s always Greg Dorrance

I’ve bought a lot of stuff from him, but never wood.
I might have one more for you. I’ll edit and update here if I can get the details. Hope that helps.

UPDATE: Curt’s Waterfowl Corner...but he’s only on Facebook. Curt’s son Steve is running that part of the business.

At the moment I'm still working on the hull of the model. The front parts of the fuselage are already prepared for further work in the production of welds.Click image for larger version

Continued work on the project of the boat type XXI. All four parts of the body were processed and all irregularities were eliminated with the help of 2K filler. Now I install the imitation of the lower scuppers on the dummy in order to print the places of their installation on the matrix. (Top and other small scuppers will be milled on the model itself).
After the dies of all 4 parts of the body are made, similar simulators will be installed in them, which will print the recesses already in the model itself. The scuppers themselves will be made of brass separately and those wishing to purchase them will have to buy them separately. I plan the cost of the model with lower scuppers imitators in the amount of 1000 €.
The first 3 people who pre-order will receive this model for 800 €. (excluding shipping costs). Click image for larger version

I continue to work on the project of boat XXI on a scale of 1:32.
The above photos show the matrices of 4 parts of the case. The stern parts have already been polished and in one of them the plates are already installed, which will create the recesses of the lower Flutschlitzen on the hull of the boat. The front parts have not yet been sanded. I repeat my proposal: the minimum price for this set is 1000 €, but the first 2 buyers who make an advance payment of 200 € will receive a set for 800 €.

Work on the model is continuing. All 4 parts of the boat hull are made. At the joints of these parts, still in the matrix, halves of bends from 3 mm fiberglass were installed to give the whole structure rigidity, as well as the possibility of screw connection of front and rear parts of the model.
This was followed by fitting the left half of the boat. To do this, the bow and stern were docked together and, using 2K putty, the inaccuracies which arose during the making of the 4-piece bolvan were removed. The bow balcony half was also fitted.Click image for larger version
