1/72nd scale modern US NAVY submarine markings?

Are there any sources for 1/72nd scale US nuclear subs markings such as the escape hatches and draft markings?
    Thank you,
    Dave

    Dave,

Unless you're building a model of a ship in its sea trials period, you can ditch the escape hatch markings. The draft marks can be done up from a sheet of Woodland Graphics dry transfers of the correct height. I'm moving and don't remember the correct height for a 6" 1:1 scale numeral. Somebody out there can help!
    Take care,

    Bill

      Hope this helps.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Do the escape hatch markings(but not the draft markings) come off rapidly from exposure to the water or from being walked on? I did see a pic of some SEALs exiting a sub and the escape hatch markings were barely visible...

The hatch markings get painted over. The draft marks wear pretty well and only get touched up every once in a while. Sailor feet are highly abrasive and wear the paint down near the hatch in a good size patch. After a bit, each boat will have a new coat of paint applied to the deck on that hatch wear spot. Since the hatch markings are under a natural wear spot, the black over coat gets worn away and you can see them. After a couple of years, and multiple layers of black deck paint, they're gone for good.

What happened to the link I posted yesterday?

            Bill,

...I'd like to know the answer to that question as well. Looking at the forum log files I don't see anything that explains where your post went.

And in case anyone is wondering, yes....I saw Bill's post with the Woodland Scenics url for the correct set.

Weird computer mysteries of the universe!!!

                    Here's the beastie now!

This is the address for the dry transfers to use for draft marks and hull numbers. The 1/16" would be the correct size for 1/96 scale, and 1/8" would be correct for 1/48. 3/32" would be good for the 1/72 scale numerals you seek. Takes time to apply, but when done, look quite good! I've used 'em for years.

                    Good luck!

The address doesn't work for me, looks like the middle got abbreviated into dots?
