    OTW Valiant build

Yet another build for a client. Love this nuke boat from OTW. Will be sporting a OTW cylinder.

Work so far. All appendages attached. Prop and shaft installed. Hull cut and fitted with one lock down screw. Sail bolted and can be removed.

Sexy boat. Great size. Should be fast and smooth.

I've always like the shape of the bow of the Valiant...has a somewhat aggressive look to it.

I agree. After this one another R Class. I'm testing mine more tomorrow now that the app is working in the right direction. It was some how reversed. Made it hard to dive.

I've always admired the beautiful lines of the British attack boats. Lots of character!

It's been awhile but I have been working on Steve's boat. Getting all the hardware installed and running first before the fun stuff. Well it's all fun isn't.

Many built heads, some to support the cylinder, some to keep it from moving forward and back or rotating. Others to effect a battery tray so it stays put.

What isn't shown here is the tricky bow planes hook up which consists of two magnets that when the top is put on magically connect so we have bow planes. Took some head scratching but it works.

Now to move on to drilling drains, gaping, putty, the sail and masts. Let's make it look like a boat time.

Oh did I say everything works? Well it does thankfully. Never easy to build an RC sub. Right?

              Steve,
What have you done there with the battery?

                Matt,

Get medical help fast!! Evidently, you've gone blind!! Only rarely have the Brits designed anything that looks pretty. The Spitfire, Jaguar XKE, Valiant, etc. Everything else is just plain BUTT-UGLY!!! Have you looked at the Astute class? Nasty!! Hydrodynamics of a log!! Looks like a submersible dump truck!! Perhaps it's time for an eye exam!!

                Take care, happy modeling!

                Bill

Lots more done. I had some issues with the sides of the hull matching up exactly on this casting but nothing I have run into before with any kit. Sometimes I just leave it if it's an old WW2 rust bucket with a heavy weathered pain job. It just doesn't show. But with a new modern sub I blend it with putty. This hull now hits perfectly and true. Put a coat of primer on it and now I can see where all the bad stuff is still to fill. One more pass ought to do it.

Next up to drill drains and openings in the sail. This is a really nice build. Love OTW kits as they are robust and well laid up.

Steve! hope you are watching! Your R-Class is next!

Steve you are the master of making new subs look old.
But as you know I feel if I had wanted a rust bucket I would have bought one.
Just jealous I guess of your finishing skills.
Enjoy your tea my friend. I will reheat my coffee.

BTW Darrin, how is your Jeep restoration going? BD

Can you describe Steve the bow plane connect using the magnets you mention earlier? It work well? How in this case? Steven
