1. Each propeller has 6 blades.
2. If I recall correctly, the forward most prop rotates clockwise and the rear most prop rotates counter-clockwise.

What are the dimensions (dia. & length) of the torpedo at 1/32 scale?
Thanks

Hmmm....I'm wondering of the G7a and G7e had different prop configurations.....?

Here's a photo of a G7e:

Sorry, but I have to correct a Little.

My picture is a G7e and Jeff´s is a G7a.

I also found a probably better shot onto the G7a tail.

I do seem to keep mixing up the tail configurations of the G7a and G7e torpedoes! Thanks for keeping us straight!

So looking closely at this photo, this is a G7e?

If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

If I'm seeing tail vanes aft of the props, then it's a G7a. (I think I got that right! )

Thank you Gantu! That helps.
Jeff, that means that when U505 was captured in June '44, they were still using the older versions of the torpedoes. When did the e version start getting used or dod they use the G7a throughout the war?

The steam powered a types where used throughout the war. They were faster (selectable 30, 40 or 44 kts) and had a better range but leaves a track of bubbles. The uboats used them for night attacks.
The electric driven e types where introduced in the early days of the war. They were only used on the uboats, and the first batches had a very poor range at max. 30 kts.

Beat me to it! I think it's fair to state that U-boats went out with a mix of both torpedo types throughout the war.

One note about the G7e family of torpedoes (which is an interesting story all by itself): the G7e/TIIId (Dackel) was used by the S-boote. There's also a TVa (Zaunkönig variant) also used by the S-boote.

What we usually think of as the G7e used by the U-boats were typically the TII and TIII variants.

(probably more than folks really wanted to know! )

Whether I will remember this next week or not, it is still very interesting to me. Thank you both for great information.

It looks like we need to come up with some scale propellers, but are you guys hinting at making them counter-rotating as in the full scale weapon? Good luck with the drive train if that is the case!
Regards,
