 Very cool.

Well last night I installed the bayonet ring into the hull. Always a nail biting experience as you can only hope you put enough release agent on the inside of the ring to keep the epoxy from really ruining your day.
But break free she did this morning. STP was my release agent of choice.
I finished up the ESC mount today.
I also wired and tested my motor and ESC. I am very happy with the Engel drive system.
It should work very well although I don't think I will get much speed with a 4400 RPM max.
But as it is more of a concept test than anything I can add a faster RPM motor if needed later.

I am getting close to the time I will have to choose a linkage method for the outside of the hull.
From the rotary outputs to the pumpjet assembly.
The German modeler used ball links. It is basically a swash plate like in a helicopter but operated vertically.
I have a few other ideas ass well.sigpic"Eat your pudding Mr Land"

Today was a day filled with extreme frustration.
Three times I went through the tedious process of assembling the tech rack.
And three times I had to take it apart again to fix something I installed wrong.
It kind of like a Chineese puzzle box getting it all installed.
Well the forth time it is together enough for making the linkages but it will have to come apart again as Im thinking I missed the flat on one of my output shafts. It's not very positive.
 O well!
At least I am very familiar with how it goes together now. BD

I did some work adjusting the linkages today.
The system I came up with seems to be working on the bench.
I used rubber bushings on the rear linkage connection points.
Like bushings on your cars suspension to add some flex.
The four links are adjustable for length as well.
Here is a video I took of the system in operation. BD

I have asked for ideas from my friends and 8 ball buddies and have settled on a theme.
My plan is to add small wings/ailerons to the sides just aft of the center split.
They will be connected to two servos and mixed in the radio like flapperons.
This will hopefully allow me to roll the sub.
 Plus add a coolness factor.
Then I will add a canopy in the center connected to the trim ring, and brass bands with rivet detail to give a steampunk look. Here are a few photos of the wings and canopy. BDsigpic"Eat your pudding Mr Land"
