R/C unit recommended for Subs?

Hi R/C subers,

I am thinking of buying a new RC set. I hear 2.4 does not penetrate water well, what is everyone using - i am guess non 2.4Ghz are hard to find. Whats the guide here?

Hi,

I use my quite old? (10 years) Graupner MC-19 40 MHz (The first non synthesised) which I have upgraded with a switchable 2.4 GHz module for surface use.
And I will try that 433 MHz LRS stuff in the next time.

If you don't mind, could you add in your profile at least the country you are located in.
It will help suggest the correct frequencies for your area.

2.4Ghz does not penetrate water at all.
Those using 2.4Ghz are also using a tall antennae or a following floating buoy with the antennae there.

I found last year a Futaba 9CAP and I like it.
I wouldn't mind having more slider or dial controls.

If you're in the US, the frequency bandwidth is 75mHz and systems are drying up since production stopped on the middle to high end ones. 34mHz and 40mHz are illegal but some of the HAM frequencies are available with a license.

I have a Brand New HITEC 4 channel 72 ,hz with 6 channel receiver, 4 servos and receiver I coujld sell you for US 75 plus shipping.
I bought 3 of them from Hitec when I found out that 2.4 was nogo. Now they have no stock left..

hobby king's shipping center right next door! almost all the junk you ever need but out off stock.

go old school find a old Futaba gold and a 433Mhz system, I get the FP-T7FG/K as E wast (cheap), it has 2 "sliders!" but the 6 switches that are useless in a sub.

but the 433 Mhz system is a pain in the *** for beginner.
