for the answer to the IPMS question, I would ask Mr Merriman if you or FX would be allowed. I honestly don't know the answer to that.
I just know that I've seen dioramas done with some very large U-Boat pieces that have been entered in such contests. There was one entry that was a very large (forgot the scale) U-Boat rising out of the water (may have been over 6 feet long???) that I saw a photo of....perhaps someone that has gone to the IPMS nationals could give more detail??
I just think a diorama of the 688/Mystic would be a really cool subject. Something that is different enough.
I also agree with Jeff. I think this could be released as a kit, before the specifics of the thrusters (or bayonet mounts for hull openings) could be figured out. I think the Mystic would be a cool model with a WTC 3.5 and just the prop. That prop reminds me of the Seehund variants that are out there. (also where I remembered seeing one of the German guys with the bayonet type mounts for hull access.)
