Will a standard 72mhz TX/RX work in a RC Sub. or do i need an old 35mhz or 27mhz or 75mhz system?
Tested my Old 72mhz system on a road,at 1/2 of a mile, functionality confirmed via cell phone communications, and it worked fine. Why wouldn't it work in water?

It would work just fine assuming the electronics were OK which they seem to be as you've already checked them out.

The problem is that the use of 72MHz for surface (or sub-surface) R/C is not legal in the USA or Canada. It may be possible to have a competent licensed technician convert it to 75MHz.

You can easily convert your 72MHz radio to 75MHz if you want to use it for subs.
