    Thunder tiger yellow sub issue

I was running my thunder tiger sub this week end in the Carmel Pond and it suddenly would not move. There it sat in 29" of water. No problem, I went out and got it. I love this pond. What happened was the fuse blew. The sub uses the standard 10 amp auto type blade fuse. I replaced the fuse and it worked just fine. This is a weak point in a very well built unit. The sub needs a fuse, but I will replace it with a fuse that will reset.

Now the real issue, what caused the fuse to blow. Has anyone else had this issue? There was no prop fowling. One thought I had was that it might have been sitting on the bottom and with the rubber feet on the sub, there may have been too much resistance going forward. The bottom is painted and should not pose a problem. I also had a camera mounted on the top of the sub, so it had just a little more weight. I made several fast reverses in order to get camera shots of other boats.('') This is what I suspect is the reason. These are all possible reasons for the speed controller to possible reach 10 amps which is the fuse max. Either way, once the fuse blows, the fail safe doesn't work.

    Any other thoughts

    Probably a good idea to

Probably a good idea to run two independent fused lines one to the ESC and one to the ballast tank control board.

Re: Thunder tiger yellow sub issue

I had a conversation with the rep from ACE Hobby about the fuse issue and here is their answer:

They are currently doing some tests and believe that how you tighten down the bolts on the WTC cover may be causing some binding on the prop shaft causing the amps to increase above the 10 amp fuse rating. The system is designed to go as high as 20 amps. They are taking the suggestion back to Thunder Tiger to replace the single blow fuse with an auto reset. They stated that they would be getting back to me about the final outcome.

I have found that a chunk of 12 ga wire between the fuse contacts solves this sort of problem
