I was running my thunder tiger sub this week end in the Carmel Pond and it suddenly would not move. There it sat in 29" of water. No problem, I went out and got it. I love this pond. What happened was the fuse blew. The sub uses the standard 10 amp auto type blade fuse. I replaced the fuse and it worked just fine. This is a weak point in a very well built unit. The sub needs a fuse, but I will replace it with a fuse that will reset.
Now the real issue, what caused the fuse to blow. Has anyone else had this issue? There was no prop fowling. One thought I had was that it might have been sitting on the bottom and with the rubber feet on the sub, there may have been too much resistance going forward. The bottom is painted and should not pose a problem. I also had a camera mounted on the top of the sub, so it had just a little more weight. I made several fast reverses in order to get camera shots of other boats.('') This is what I suspect is the reason. These are all possible reasons for the speed controller to possible reach 10 amps which is the fuse max. Either way, once the fuse blows, the fail safe doesn't work.
Any other thoughts
