I don't see any reason why not. In fact, I've considered using the cylindrical noodle as a hull form for an experimental model but have too many other projects to finish first.

Thats what I was afraid of is water being stored in the cells of the foam.
I will check out the foam you suggest, it sounds perfect.
I know that Big Dave and Steve gave me a site for foam before, or at least I t hink they did, in Steve's Seaview build thread. Must look around.
Thanks guys.
I've been using the foam backing rod that hardware and building suppliers do for sealing between precast, stand up concrete panels, like they make big warehouses out of. Sold by the roll and comes in a variety of diameters.
.....I'm assuming that being a building product it'd be water resistant tho.
Closed cell foam is the key. They sell it by the sheet at places like Home Depot and Lowes. Dow is a manufacturer. It comes in blue and pink. A single sheet will most likely last your lifetime.

And if you want to save some money or don't have a lot of space to store a sheet of this, look for a construction site or building renovation and talk to the foreman about giving you some scrap pieces. It's worked for me every time I've asked.
Wish I could take credit for that pearl of wisdom but I read it somewhere a while back, either here or SP, had one of those DUH moments because they were doing a major renovation on the building next to where I work. I got lots of nice little scrap pieces.
Good luck in you search.
