Alfa intelligence - information

I am trying to find the names of the individual alfa boats.The hull numbers are easy to find.
I am patterning my Alfa after the K-123.
There is little information on these boats,which is odd,since they are no longer in service.Only recently,Matt Thor released the updates on them(thanks Matt).
Does anybody out there have that kind of information,and anything else juicy on the Alfa,Akula,or Typoon boats which is not common information on the web or the few books out there?

The whale story sounds interesting.Would like to find out where you heard about that.
Still,though,their does not seem to be a source for the names of the Alfas.That is kind of odd.I find it hard to belive so many went to sea without naming thier boats.Surely it is not a "state secret" anymore.
In fact,from what I understand,they are all sitting around waiting for the torch.Seems a shame,doesn't it?
History will be lost there folks! They(or one) should be saved to a museum somewhere,even here.Bet they could be bought for a song.

The novel claims to have a section of the whales rib in it's wardroom.

For more information on the Alfa, project 705 - 705 K go to the "Eastview Publications" website. They sell tons of Russian books (in Russian ). There is one on the Alfa with photos titled Malaia skorostnaia avtomatizirovannaia podvodnaia lodka-istrebitel' pr. 705 (705K) translated = Small high-speed automated fighter submarine. Project 705 (705K).

In fact the photo of the Alfa moored that I used in my last post (above) is the cover shot of that book. Note - the photos and diagrams are all in black and white and everying is in Russian. Da! There is a good diagram of the creeper motor assemblies that Matt Thor is now providing on his new Alfa hull kit.

I have purchased from Eastview with no problems. In fact, they have an office right here in Minnneapolis but the book was shipped from the Rodina within about two weeks of my order! (I've waited longer than that for stuff from somewhat more local vendors...

Cool links guys!! yes the alpha is fast. i talked to Matt before i got mine in the water and at that time he
told me that the alpha would increase
in speed once submerged without any
advance in the throttle, i kinda though yha yha ok well i put the alpha in the water for the first time and WOW!!! Matt was right!!!! that thing motors along once it goes under the waves!!! moral of the story is (for you new guys) always listen to your vendors they have already figured it out for you.
the one ruskie boat i am waiting for
is that Victor III Matt is going to do
in the future..
