I did some searching and learned about Super Duster 134 as an alternative to Propel.

Where can I buy some of this stuff online or in a brick and mortar store?

To those that have bought

To those that have bought the Super Duster stuff: did the top of the can refill have a valve, or did it have an all metal seal that needed to be punctured with the trigger mechanism or adapter in order for the can of air to be used?

Went in on a case of Super Duster [134 refill] 10 oz. cans with Tom Spettel here in Colorado. The refill has the same identical screw fitting as propel and other air brush propellents. Don't remember the source,but send Tom a PM he'll remember.

If you Google - Super Duster 402AR you'll come up with a number of sources. I have pasted one below. Be sure you get the REFILL - it fits the standard Propel adapter available at sub vendors.

I managed to find a 10 oz. can of "PC Duster" which is a refill and has the threaded top. I will buy some adapter soon.

When I had my sub

When I had my sub set up as a static diver I tried using an empty can of r-134a with the screw top. I drilled a hole to insert a tire valve. A hose was screwed on to the top using standard auto air refill hose. This was connected to an auto fuel injector (4-5 volts) which makes an excellent valve. I could fill to about 130- 140 psi, the limit of my air compressor. I could raise and lower the 7ft sub only 2 or 3 times on an air filled charge. The plus side of this was that the air was free, and it was very dependable system albeit short lived. I abandoned further development of this since for my purposes a dynamic diver is better suited to the pond operation of this sub.

Green Gas

Has anyone tried using Green Gas instead of Propel. GG is commonly used in airsoft guns and is composed of propane gas with some silicone oil added as lubricant.

If you look at the refill nozzle it's similar to the ones used for refilling butane torches so I think you have to swap the schreader valve with the refill valve from a refillable lighter.
