    Cutting the Revell Gato hull?

I've resurrected the Gato from it's grave on top of the wardrobe after deciding to rest the Blueback build for a while...what I need is some pics of how you guys have cut the hull to gain internal access if possible please?

I don't really want to do the lengthways cut as Mr Merriman suggests...one slip and I'm in trouble, I don't have the confidence to attack the hull with a saw like that.

Any pics would be greatly appreciated...

      Rich,

      Thanks Andre,

That's the big cut, isn't it? That's what I don't want to do, I can't even draw a straight line, let alone cut one!
I've just had a pm from BD showing a much easier method, I think that's how I'm going to do mine. I'd be losing sleep if I had to go at my new hull with a razor saw like that..

But thanks anyway, kind of you.

      Regards,

      Rich

            Now that I like Scott,

Now that I like Scott, thanks very much for that idea. I hate the thought of cutting all the way along the hull, it's getting expensive keeping on buying kits!

            Thanks again...

i utilized the existing cut , that is done on the stern assembly. had to cut out the flange , to clear the 2 1/2" wtc tubing. the deck will be still removeable, to acces the fwd dive-plane linkages. also using the existing bulk-heads and just enlarged them for the wtc. the whole thing fits pretty good, even though, i have to work out some details

Stefan thanks for describing the work you have done.
I pulled my not yet started Gato out last night and was
wondering what size tube you used. (2.5")
I am anxious to see how you proceed
It was great to meet you at the Sun-n-Fun 2008.

Thank you all for the information, my replacement kit should be here in the next day or two, so I can proceed with caution but at least this time I'll have an idea of what I'm cutting and where.

                  Thanks again,
