    Oregon Scientific Camera Displacement.

I just got this email from our resident 8-ball thinker, Larry Kuntz.

He did some in water testing of the camera. I thought this may be helpful to you Bubbleheads. BD.

I did a little testing and found out the camera with mount displaces

5.1oz of water and 1oz of water weighs a pinch more than 1 oz. The
camera weighs 6.1 oz dry weight with mount, batteries and flash card.
    So
the end result is under water the camera weighs ~1 oz. Not much to make

    neutral if one wants to.

    I tested that out in

I tested that out in my sink Thursday before I went to the SR6 fun run last weekend. I found that with a 1"x1"x1/4" chunk of flotation foam rubber banded to the top the camera was "perfectly" neutral.

Here is a shorter (but higher rez than what I posted in the SR6 forum) video clip of last Saturday's festivites.

      And yet another great video

And yet another great video Tim. With the mikes turned on it definitely shows how non-stealthy our subs are, but the audio makes it.

        Fantastic video Tim. I love

Fantastic video Tim. I love how you got the tip of your sub in there. It gives a great perspective and frame of reference, and probably kept me from getting sick. Very nice. Great job!

And great job at the helm. It looks like you're manuevering a little research submersible the way you positioned it there behind Jeff Jones' Type VII.

And the Type VII really looks good Jeff. Particularly hovering perfectly still and trim off the bottom there. But I've always thought all your boats look terrific.

Wish I could have been there. Missed seeing you guys. Next time.

          Pirate,

          I don't want to start

          Pirate,

I don't want to start anything here, but I am pretty sure it is a type II, and it is sitting on the bottom...

What impresses me the most of course is the fact that this still taken from the video is high enough quality to even make that judgement.

            Jeff Jones' subs really run

Jeff Jones' subs really run well. Even though he typically uses the "old fashioned" bulkhead system instead of watertight cylinders, they always are in perfect trim on the surface and underwater even when he is just hovering. I am totally jealous...

              Thanks for the " heads

Thanks for the " heads up" about the camera, guys. Now everyone at the Hubertus MBC here in Sydney wants one. Who am I to argue. I've now ordered 8 cameras.

Here's a pic of how I mounted mine onto the deck of my Engle Type IX D2, U861.

I really can't wait until the Model Sub Regatta in my nation's capital of Canberra which is being held next Easter. One SD card WILL NOT BE ENOUGH................

By the Way, I'm assuming that a larger SD card than 2Gb will work fine in the camera...............

Functionally yes. I think the concern is with the physical size of the SD cards once they are above 2 Gig.

A 4 Gig card is actually a little fatter. I have heard rumours where these cards actually got stuck in the camera.

Gabrielle @ Nov 1st 2006 12]gelmer@oscientific.com[/url]. BTW, ATC2K will work with 4GB cards, but due to its increased size, it will be a tight squeeze into the SD slot. Don't be surprised if it gets stuck....

Thanks so much, keep playing hard and recording everything!

I'll tell ya...........I really love this camera!!!!
Today, our Hubertus MBC lake was quite a bit clearer and I had a bit of fun with some of the other boats sailing around. One however (as you'll see shortly) got a bit too close.

                      Dave,

I think there may be 2 blades on that screw. Can't be quite sure though.

Awsome deck placement of the camera ... it gives you a really good look and feel of your boat. Well done.
