u209 and the "inner earth"? more from the flip side...

Another story from the odd side of things.... my interest in the paranormal and such things led me to a story reported in a podcast i listen to quite often.

the story is so strange, it is really not believable. but i'm putting it out there just for conversation's sake.

the story goes that during ww2, the nazis were trying to prove the existence of the "inner earth", the theory that there may be civilizations and large unexplored areas beneath the surface of our world (indeed, history shows that the nazis had a very strong interest in the occult and many things paranormal).

in trying to find this inner earth during the last months of the war, a uboat was displatched to an area in which, they believed, the entrance to this other world was located. their mission was to find this undersea doorway, to enter and explore, and to make contact with whatever may be there.

    nuts, right?

im attaching what is claimed to be a letter detailing the mission many years later, in 1985. translated from german to english.

im interested to know if any of our resident experts can confirm any of the names involved in these letters.

this one is even too strange for me...but i thought it would be fun for others to see. enjoy!

    I find that letter laughable.

I find that letter laughable. The real U209 was commanded by a Kapitanleutnant Heinrich Brodda, true, but it was last heard from on May 6th, 1943....two full years before the war ended. At the time of its last radio transmission it had suffered extensive damage from Allied aircraft attacks and there was no way after that it was going to dive down to any hole in the bottom of the sea..

U209 was a VIIC. If this attempt at finding an "inner earth" were to be made in the last few months of the war, I would think they would have sent a type XXI or at least a VIIC/41 or IXC/40, as all these boats could dive deeper than a VIIC.

The letter was written by someone with an overactive imagination...and they could have gotten a bit more creative at that, when they wrote it.

      I've seen archival footage describing

I've seen archival footage describing how Hitler's interest in the occult waned after his people found, then lost, the Ark of the Covenant in 1936.
But a Type VII did figure into it then.

      "Trust me."
