yeah if your a foreigner your pretty much screwed anyway. Im not sure what the security raing for that base is right now. Besides I agree with Pete. Ive swam in that pool and it would be a wonderful place to lose your sub. The water clarity sux. Only plus is the age of the base and the Sub Museum.
Chris. Ill will ask the questions you have given. As for hull design. I cant see how they can make much of an improvement in hull design. The teardrop shape is the most aerodynamic shape we know. Im not sure how that differs to hydrodynamics but im sure its not to off. If i had to make a geuss as to what they would improve in future subs it would be to make a more steath sail or even a minimalized version. In the drawings ive seen while in the service representing future submarines of the fleet, they have always included full body sonar detection arrays (bassically every where on the boat), advanced propulsion systems(I cant say), and lots of proposals for detachable submersibles that were manned and unmanned. One such proposal ive seen is for a carrier version of a massive sub that carries many unmanned subs with torpedos. these unmanned subs could be very quiet do to their electric motors and could attack from multiple directions without revealing the main subs locations. It would also be stealthy because the number one wa to track a sub is its crew making noise. No crew = less noise.
Oh my first sub was in hawaii. I cant remember the name and i dont wish to miss name the boat. It was a WWII boat and thats all I can say, i was pretty young. Any help on the name guys.
