    Please stop making apologies for

Please stop making apologies for a company that obviously has and does provide poor service to its custmers. If a person is in business to make money and has another job too, that is their choice. If Lee cannot come up with the goods, then he should refund the man his money or at least provide compensation in some form for the delay.

To all those that say it is difficult to have another job, and run a hulls business too, then I have one thing to say. OTW Designs, Bob runs another business, and turns out sub hulls to the very highest spec.

If you guys want to shell out for sub standard product, then you will support a business that does and as a consequence besmirch the hobby and other vendors.

Perhaps Lee should re-consider his business model, his range of hulls, and consider carrying stock of popular items, at least get a new fibreglass man or sub contract the hulls out to company that can produce results.

      Does the guy come good

Does the guy come good on his claims ? Yes or No, that's all I want to know.

If he "claims" he can produce X model in X days/weeks/months/years and he DOES, and it is of the quality that he promotes, then I hope he remains in business and does well.

If he "claims" he can produce X model in X days/weeks/months/years and he DOESN'T, or its of a lesser quality then he promotes, then I hope he's already out of business, regardless of how many years he's got in the hobby or how many buddies he has. I can't tolerate BS, false claims, or downright screwing people out of their hard earned hobby money.

If a customer is not satisfied (which is usually the result of a product/company not coming good on their "claims"), they should be entitled to their money back, and not the "run around" for years, and years....for the love of God. I don't care what his living conditions are or how many ailments he has. If life in the model business is that rough, get out. Heck, I'd LOVE to build models for a living, but I choose not to for financial reasons. I do not buy the "we should be thankful for anything" statement. When I spend big bucks, I expect quality, and not to bow down in thanks for throwing me a crumb.

......oh...uhh...ya, wanting the guy to commit suicide is a little extreme.

      2 cent commentary.

          Maybe the simplest solution is

Maybe the simplest solution is don't send full payment unless the seller says the goods are ready to ship. And Also if you are a one man supplier then know you should know your limitations on what you can supply.

I wish Lee well with his health problems and it would seem that there are two camps here of the SSY experience either positive or negative, but if the negatives by and large relate to recent times and ill health then maybe this is a case of the one man supplier taking on too much? !!

I know of several people i regularly buy hulls and parts off (that are also 1 man operations and not making huge profits). In particular Allan Pew at APS models simply won't take your money if want you want can't be delivered in a reasonable time frame. In other words he wont take your money or overextend or overpromise what he cannot deliver. If he has goods ready to go you pay in full. If he has goods in prepartion for dispatch you then pay a deposit.

            Hi John,

            i got to say

            Hi John,

i got to say i had very good experience with alan. sent half off the money up front, second half after the model was done (3 weeks) and the shipping was fast.
it would be good,if alan would start a webpage to show what he has...i consider to buy my next hull from him again...

i just wish all companys would be like his..
and those who are not.. get out of the hobby-industry.. afterall it is our hobby and we have to have our wifes permission to spend money for our hobby....and if the stuff don't arrive .. we are in the dog-house
