    Submarine Cost??????? - Sushi Tally!!

    I decided to keep a tally on the funds I spent on my Sushi build just to give someone an idea of what it costs to build a working model submarine. I always get people saying, “How much does it cost” and the ever present “Why do model sub parts cost so much”
    This may give an idea of what is involved. Keep in mind all the design and construction work was done by me. So I can’t add that to the total. I am also not adding the cost of the transmitter as I use the same one for all my boats.
    These are rounded totals as well, and do not include tax and shipping and basic construction supplies. Epoxy, paint, fiberglass, brass, glue.
    Kit= $100
    Motor=$40
    ESC=$160
    Receiver=$50
    Battery=$40
    Bayonet Ring=$75
    Prop=$20
    Driveline-shafts-seals=$50
    APC=$70
    X-mixer=$30
    Servos=$30
    Cooling kit=$12
    Cooling pump=$20
    SES-3=$35
    R/X Battery=$10

    The total is $742. It kind of shocked me too!!
    But how can you put a price on fun!! Woo Hoo. BD.

        Hey Dave, it's money, but

        Hey Dave, it's money, but is this really expensive???

        I believe it is a relativly cheap hobby. Think a bout the amount of time You invested. Than devide the amount of money through the amount of hours. I believe, You find out, that an hour making this hobby is not expensive.

        I am building boats, which include about $3500 for material. I work about 2,5 years on such a boat. This is only about $120 per month.

        Cheaper than smoking, drinking, women or "fitness-studios"

        Isn't it the greatest hobby???

          Hi Lothar,
          It is me

          Hi Lothar,
          It is me Bigdave! I am logged in on a different computer. I could not agree with you more. It is no more expencive than some other hobbies, and a lot more fun. More fun for guys like us that like to design and make our own parts. I just wanted to show how much the hobby can cost. That question is always popping up. We are at the regatta now. Got here a day early to scope out the local hobby shops. Wish you could be here. BD.

            Together with Nils Canditt we had our small "Carmel momorial Subregatta" with only two subs

            best regards
