Time to start the '06 version of this thread.

This has been a good way for folks to share with us what they are working on.

For those who have projects from last year, what kind of progress did you make?

If you are thinking of starting a project, let us know!

    Photos are encouraged!!

Well everyone I am new, but have started a 1/144 Kilo with Daves WTC and Seals form Mike. Plan to use the badger ballast system in the Kilo. Kind of a combo of Dave W., David M. and the Timetraveler
Got a Dumas Akula for Christmas from my Family.

              Work continues on my Engel

Work continues on my Engel fleet boat, the USS Silversides. Last year I managed to get it painted and marginally running for the SubRegatta. I am now engaged in making the bow plane retracts work properly and taking care of some seal and trim problems. I am going to try a new battery system in order to get a better trim on the boat.

My objective this year is to get a smooth running boat!

                I've got my 1/32nd scale

[color=#000000]I've got my 1/32nd scale Type II coming along. The masters for all dive surfaces have been made and parts cast. The CAD drawing for the photo-etched main and conning tower decks is basically complete. Prop shaft hubs have been machined and are ready for fitting. Next up is building a dive module for it......then it's ready for trimming and running.

Standing next in line is an OTW Trafalgar that I have already started.

Those torpedoes for my Seehund are still waiting for those pesky gearboxes. Perhaps that will get done this year....finally! The Seehund runs great, btw!

                -Jeff

p.s. There are several more hulls waiting for prioritization as well]

                    I am in the middle

I am in the middle of an Engel Lafayette project from a kit I purchased about year ago.

The Tech-Rack (dry hull PVC "skeleton" fore & aft of the Engel piston ballast tank) is finished, electronics & wiring are being added to it currently. Rudder & dive servos installed & tested, same for prop motor & speed controller.
I am currently installing & wiring reciever, pitch controller & Ballast tank motor & switches to the Tech Rack.

I am using DEAN connectors & 12g silicone jacket "Wet Noodle" wiring for the battery packs & main electric harness. The battery packs (4 of them, 6v ea.) & the electric harness I put together myself, designing the harness for easy servicing & redundant 12v supply to components should any battery pack fail.

I picked up the 20 SC 3300Mah Ni-MH batteries needed off of E-Bay, as these were very costly everwhere else I looked. Paid under $50.00 US for the 20 of them needed, shipping included.

Working on the hull & con tower details also between the Tech-Rack components.
What is nice is that the "Tech Rack" slides out the hull of the sub, so I can work on the hull details seperately from the running & electronic components which are installed on the tech rack.

Almost ready to prime the hull. I had to rescribe a few hull details that were almost lost in the resin finish.
I can send pics or share any info anyone may need via E-Mail.
I have stock photos of the Tech Rack assembly if anyone curious as to what it looks like.

                    Regards
                    Steve

                          Hi all.
I just finished my robbe-engel U-47 and am awaiting a Steve Neill Blueback kit to arrive once he gets his new equipment sorted. The u-47 was my first sub after lots of targets and I love it heaps. I'll be doing lots more as the money permits!
