Thank you Mr. Jeffrey W. LaRue - Re: Myles Yancey's U-boat Club...

    Hi Jeff,

I read the comments on that string and decided not to respond because we don't need this on the Subcommittee message board. Besides, I didn't need to add more gasoline to the fire. Thanks for nipping it in the bud!

Now to answer Myles' question... I am very interested in U-boats; especially the Type VIIc. I'm in the process of getting copies of many of the original WWII manuals (printed in German). I will use them to write future articles for the Subcommittee Report Journal (SRJ). However, I don't see a need for a separate club. I think that any information, projects, helpful hints, etc., should be posted on the Subcommittee Message Board, or in the SRJ, for all of us to enjoy. In many instances, I've seen postings from guys who have done some really neat things with Fleetboats, Russian subs and modern US Subs, that I could adapt to my Type VIIc.

I believe we have a excellant organization with an outstanding world-wide membership. I know with email and message boards, sometimes a quick response looks quite different than what we meant to say. We all need to be aware of other fellow's feelings; especially when involving foreign messages and responses. I'll be the first to admit that I have to control my sometimes quick response to a message.

Keep a level bubble (and head)...
    Regards,
    Don_

      Looking back at the formative

Looking back at the formative years of the SubCommittee, Special Interest Groups (SIGs) were pretty standard stuff.

Members devoted to certain subjects such as Disney Nautilus, Seaview, etc. even had their own newsletters which were promoted within the Report.

If it is a way to foster submarine model building then full speed ahead!
      Warm regards,

        Welcome to the subcommittee.

I would very much appreciate if you would pick something other for an Avatar, than the one I created and use.

It makes it very confusing for people associating Avatars with names etc.

Being new here you may not have been aware of this.

Thank you and sorry if you are finding yourself under constant "attack".

        Nick

Uhhhh, Nick, I suggest you might check your membership directory for membership numbers. Myles has been a SC member since 1993.

As to the avitar, okay, if you created it and want it to yourself, that's fine. I'm not sure I see the issue, but that's just my opinion (and you know what they say about them).

As Jim mentioned, Myles has been around the SC for as long as I have been a member. I met him at my first SubRegatta in Groton back in '96.

As far as avatars, I associate people's names with posts and never pay any attention to the avatars. In fact, my request would be if you are going to use a posting name other than your real name, please also sign the post with your real name.
