Scratch building couplers - Advices anybody?

Hello all subbers

I am currently working on my next project a 1/52 scale U-52 U-boat, unfortunately it is too cold up here to run any subs, I'm working on this boat for the time being. The shaft diameter for the props is about 9mm wide and I was wondering if there was an easy type of coupler you can build for this case. I have seen a lot of good units from various manufacturers and since this is such a small device maybe one can make easily from scratch?

for that size you will

for that size you will more than likely have to produce it yourself via a lathe and or mill if you do not have access to these machines then contracting with someone like Dave Merriman
or if you are on the frugal side then browse through your local auto parts store or surpplus store

Big couplings are available off-the-shelf. You may want to try the model power boat guys- those using IC engines.

Also gear suppliers, like devalls supply good hardy spicer style couplings of the size you require.
