      Hi Antoine,

      glad to see that

      Hi Antoine,

glad to see that you went with one of ThorDesign kits...they're simply the best! I'm working on a ThorDesign 1/96 USS Permit that has just received (15 minutes ago) the two first coats of primer on the lower hull, and now I have to drill out the 40+ flood holes...as soon as I get the Digital Camera from my uncle I'll post some pics.

        Hi Antoine -
From that line beind the sail, it looks as though your hull was cut to separate the fore from the after portion of the hull- or am I seeing something else?

Might be a good way to ship it a little less expensively

          Tim,

          That 'line be(h)ind the sail'

          Tim,

That 'line be(h)ind the sail' is almost certainly a rubberband used to temporarily hold the two hull halves together.

            Antoine

PS : Tim, may I know your method to close the 2 halves on yours ? I have few ideas but I want to know a good one first.

[color=#000080]It's a difficult thing to photograph since its mostly hidden. I got the idea from an SCR article Matt Thor did a number of years ago - I'll try to draw it up and email it to you.

                        Hi Antoine,

                        compliments for the escape

                        Hi Antoine,

compliments for the escape module...it's great! May I suggest you to use this module as an emergency buoy? So, if the sub sinks, you can release this module (that will have some foam in to be very buoyant) so that you can easily see where the sub sank...maybe attaching the module to a long wire, so you could also be able to raise the sub.
Of course this is only a suggestion...let me know!

I primed my Permit and next step will be drilling and filing the FF holes.

Here is a rough sketch of the bow holddown I use on my Alfa that you asked about. The only change I made from Matt Thor's original design was that I tapped and drilled a brass bar instead of trying to epoxy a nut to the top lip.
