    Help Info Needed Lipton 6 Receiver

    Hello

    Like the title says, I need help from the membership with a Lipton 6 receiver.

    I just bought a used Lipton 6 receiver and programmer. It says on it`s package 72Mhz, I`m confused I need 75Mhz. Also I thought it was a programmable rec. that you just adjust the channel you want with the programmer. I also got a Wifly TX FM Crystal TX70 and a Dual RX70 receiver crystal, why????

    This is meant to be used in one of my R.C submarines and it was bought through here privately so as "sub guys" I am guessing it has been used in subs before, how?

    I need advice and setup instructions Please.

      .....it's in a blue 'wrapper', yes? The Lepton 6 is a crystal-based receiver, unlike the SL-8 or Shadow-3 receivers. The Lepton-6 was only available in 72MHz or the ham frequencies (50/53MHz). The programmability has to do with pin-to-channel assignments, failsafe mode selection, and cascading to receivers together.

      While using a 72MHz receiver for surface use is not legal (in the U.S. and Canada), it'll work just as well as a 75MHz receiver.

      You might be able to get the folks at Radio South to convert it for you....

          Thanks for the info. So even with the extra "shadow RX programmer" I can`t do anything to the Light blue case Lipton 6. But yet it does work, even if it says 72Mhz, with 75Mhz TX & RX crystals by WFLY. Would it also work with Futaba Dual Conversion 75Mhz TX & RX crystals?

          So what is my use of having the extra programmer device?

              I don't find it that unusual to hear that a 72MHz receiver works with a 75Mz crystal in it. You should test what kind of range you get with that combination however....I would not be surprised if the usable range is quite a bit less than anticipated.

              It'll probably work the same with a Futaba DC set of crystals.
