How about this... I'm 74 years old, but when I was 6 or 7 years old, I had a small metal boat that had a metal plate where you places a small candle in it. When lit, the boat world run around the bath tub and make a put-put noise where bubbles came out the tail pipe and powered the boat. I don't remember a whole lot about my steam powered boat, but it was the real thing... I just did a search on the internet and --- by golly found it!

    My put-put boat, enjoy...
    Regards,
    Don_

Ahh, the ever popular Kenner "Power Sub". Here's mine, still in the box. I even have the bag of refill pellets for it.

Here's a USCG version. The bottom of the sub says "MODEL TRAIN SALES - UNION, N.J. - MADE IN KOREA".

I have the Lionel USCG train set. The Lionel flat cars are a darker blue than the Model Train Sales units.

              Wow
We are getting some really cool toys.
I would be remiss if I did not put up a photo of what I feel is the #1 sub toy/model of my generation.

Well, at least I have one of those too ;-)

Although yours is in much better condition than mine. At least I think it is, from that puny little picture. ;-)

100% complete and never been in water.
As mint as you can get I guess.
I need a junky one to run. This one is worth too much. Lol
As for my Puny photo, I don't know why this old iPad posts them like that.
But I am sure knowing how much you love Apple you will tell me.

BD, nice find! I'd actually like to have a couple more. They made them with the gray top half like mine, and also red and blue top halves. It would be kinda cool to have one of each.

So, since you now need one, hunt down the others for me as well, would you? ;-)

And Paul, do you still have yours? I can see it now, a Power Sub race at a regatta.....

I do have it somewhere. It is a bit the worse for wear. Mine had the grey upper hull. I don't recall the big keel weight as shown in the ad.
                          Warm regards,

I looked for a picture of a toy sub that I thought I got from Cracker Jack box, but I found it, in a Kellogg's cereal box.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Someone may have to install a mini brushless motor in his, but I was asked to keep his name to myself to protect his anonymity. BD

BTW Only a guess mind you Paul.
But I am thinking without the weight it may track like a flounder. Lol

Hmmm that would explain certain performance issues with my particular boat.
