2004 Builder's Survey - "On the Ways" - What's on Everyone's Workbench?
Well my projects looks like this
Engel Typhoon, with camera in periscope, 6 tube torpedo launcher and 2x GPS homing missiles.
Its going to be built something in that order
Still waiting for my type IX hull from Lee Upshaw's Scale shipyard wich order was placed in 2000. Its the forth year now so do not accuse me of being impatient!!!
Start building a type IX hull in 32 scale myself and this is almost ready. I will build U-123 in early war configuration and U-805 in late war configuration with "Schnelltauchback". This should be possible using one hull and two different kinds of decks and CT's. Momentarely busy with detailing the hull, building and painting the crew/guns for both boats. Have had very much help from Greg Bergman, Rainer Bruns, Jack Kocher and others. Hopefully I can show some progress on this site when I have my digital camera.
Just started a refit on a used 32nd P. type XXIII last night. Put my 1/32 scale type IX in dry dock for a new paint job. Got that done..... And still trying to make a decent running 32nd scale torpedo that can be mass produced.. Can't decide to either build a 3" WTC myself or buy one for the XXIII. Never used a WTC before, always went with built in bulkheads. The thin walled XXIII won't allow this. Future plans are to build another 1/48 fleet boat. Jeff

I'm new to the Message Board -- and to this hobby. My first boat is a Dumas Bluefish, built by them. I am now modifying it into the USS Mackerel, SS204.
My big project is an Engel Fleet Boat, which will become the USS Silversides, SS236. As of this posting (April 29), I am still working on the inside components, tanks, radio gear, etc. I have promised myself that I'll have it operational and in the water this year, hopefully in time for the St. Louis Admirals Regatta in September.

Why would it take him 4 years? What gives, Lee? Is this for real?
Finally almost done on my scratch built British X-24. Hope
to start working on trimming it out once the pool is open in the next week or two.
