ESC with water cooling, ok to run water from ballast tank?

    ESC with water cooling, ok to run water from ballast tank?

    ok, so retirement is coming and I am trying to get my sub back up and running. So in my new design, I realized I have been running my sub with a water cooled esc, but have never ran water through it. Call it ignorance. So with my new tech rack and my new piston tank, is it plausible to run the water that gets pulled in and out of the piston through the ESC? I would have to design a new plastic housing to enlarge the water amount to not limit the tank, but I also know the water would not be a constant flow. Thoughts?

    Appreciate any advice.

      ok, well with no responses I assume people thought this was a bad idea, and it turns out it was. To much pressure for the seal on the esc. moved to a heatsink. sure will work fine. Was going to delete this posts since its probably a dumb question, but did not see a way. thx anyway.

          It might be that no one responded because they did not have the expertise or could not offer any opinion that would be useful. I do not know what power plant you intend to use, but I have never run a water cooling system, do not see a need. I use piston systems in 80% of my subs. I am a big fan, but also know the complexities. You could run two outputs out the rear endcap. The intake can be piped to a scoop and output can dump out the end.

          ‘The only modification I am considering is connecting a gas backup to the piston. Ask questions even if they do not get a response.

          If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

              Oops, sorry fore the late reply. I agree and ended up not going for the water cooling and it has not been an issue. So far, so good. Would love to hear how the gas backup for the piston is going. I have also been thinking about some sort of balloon hooked to a failsafe. In my old Albacore I had it hooked up to blow the balast after 9 secounds of radio loss and it worked flawlessly. Was thinking mi my U47 there is so much room in the front that it would be easy to put it up there but would love to know if you have had success.
