ESC with water cooling, ok to run water from ballast tank?

ok, so retirement is coming and I am trying to get my sub back up and running. So in my new design, I realized I have been running my sub with a water cooled esc, but have never ran water through it. Call it ignorance. So with my new tech rack and my new piston tank, is it plausible to run the water that gets pulled in and out of the piston through the ESC? I would have to design a new plastic housing to enlarge the water amount to not limit the tank, but I also know the water would not be a constant flow. Thoughts?
