      I've been looking at the

      I've been looking at the MicroMark lathe but haven't bought one yet. However, I did purchase a mini mill from them. I have found http://www.littlemachineshop.com/ very helpful and have purchased several upgrades and parts from them. The belt upgrade was a huge improvement.

      I also found http://www.mini-lathe.com/Links.htm very useful. It contain general info as well as some reviews of the lathes that you are looking at.

      If any of you are in the Boston area want to check out the mini mill or use it let me know. I'm just using it to cut slots in the deck of my vii/c. I haven't made it to any events yet because I have young children and I'm no where near done!

          Scott,
          I certainly understand the young children part of your post, but you don't have to have a finished boat to come to a meeting. Bring your boat along no matter what phase it's in.
          Hijack mode off;
          Sorry Kevin.

            subfixer... the primary issue for not attending is my wife works and sticking her with both kids on a Saturday to play with my time sucking sub isn't really an option

            I was thinking about bringing my three year but a while ago he was looking at the sub and asking questions. Before I knew what happened he reached out and snapped my periscope off and bend the brass rail! My son, my unfished sub. Didn't yell, but I sure as hell wasn't happy about it.

            I've seen pictures of all of those finshed subs sitting on card tables... unless you're looking to video tape a Godzilla scene I need him to get a little older or get lucky on the timing of one of the meetings.

              Hi Kevin,
              Are you going to get a milling machine?
              I was just on the Homedepot site and they have a Jet milling /drill for about 300.
              Going to take a look at that one .
