The stern thruster had its first trial at the show and I can't help feeling could be useful at most exhibitions (big subs and small ponds!) I will try to put some DIY description in the AMS journal first.

Regarding AMS versus SubCommittee politics it must be mostly historical now. Time to move on and maybe worth having some joint events- so many people (myself included) are members of both.

It certainly is a good idea Dave. For the reasons you mentioned ..usually exhibition pools are too small to turn a sub around in, and so most people dont bother to sail. I like to see the subs get wet!

Look forward to seeing 'How' you did it.

Recently found a copy of Anatomy of a ship on Alliance in all her different forms. I think there's enough to build a good model, although still could do with a few more pics like inside the tower etc.

Also like the Oberon's. I think John Lambert does plans for these.
Anyone bought any of his plans and can tell me does he put every little detail on e.g. holes/ grills on the deck, inspection plates etc?

Definitely will be a 'sub only' day at the venue pictured above sometime next year (late spring or summer).

Still waiting to hear back from the marine section leader regarding a confirmed date. However, as he has a couple of subs himself, he's very keen on the idea.

Not a massive pond, but large enough to have fun in, unless your boat is huge. Nice facilities on site, with the opportunity for a BBQ if there's enough interest.

Venue is in Hertfordshire, a stones throw from the M25, inbetween St Albans and Hatfield.

I'd have loved to hire the swimming pool as a venue, but it's just too expensive to hire.

lol, no not really- have

lol, no not really- have enough projects on the burner, and I'm not that into the Gerry Anderson stuff- although the Stingray is quite a nice looking boat.

I have plenty of reference material on the Stingray, but if I build another sci-fi boat in the future, it'll probably be the Beatles yellow Submarine- I've not seen another RC'd.

Can that be classed as sci-fi, perhaps cartoon-fi is more appropriate.

In a funny kind of way I think a Yellow Submarine would look really neat on the water. I think it's the idea of all those glass portholes, it gets your imagination.

I noticed you have a Seaquest DSV and Seaview on your web page. Very nice looking models. Are they scratchbuilt by yourself?

Just the funny nautilus in early stages of construction is mine.

Seaview belongs to Alan Warehand, and is based on a deboer hull.

Seaquest DSV is by Andy Cox, professional pattern maker- very impressive model, and a real beastly size.

It was the props that were the stumbling block- needed to figure out a way to make them work.

Other things intervened, like buying houses, and then having to replumb, rewire, redocorate- oh how I hate doing up houses!
