Here is a video on a tug event held at the pond. There are a few shots of the pond among the tug skipper interviews.

Without measuring, I think the keel depth on the Oscar is almost 8 inches... and with the masts I doubt 12 inches will clear them without some sort of accident. It's also slightly over 5 feet long without a bow thruster....
That pond is looking more like kilo and destroyer territory.

Chad was very kind and drove out to the Avista Pond in Spokane to check it out to see if it is suitable for our use. We have VERY good news! The pond varies in depth from around one to four feet in depth, which is deep enough for even the big 1/32 boats. The pond has been winterized so there was no water in it, but I think this is a very nice spot for us to seriously consider. As you can see, the pond is more than large enough for quite a fleet of subs and a extremely nice shoreline for tents, sailing, and display of the models.

Ok, Guys. Let's try this again. 2018 is coming soon and we really need to have our first SubRon NW Funrun. The Carmel event is usually around the first Saturday & Sunday in August. I would like to hold our first event two weeks prior to the Carmel event to give those planning to attend Carmel time to iron out any bugs in their boats. This would have our event running during the weekend of July 21st & 22nd. Any thoughts?
For now let's assume we will be running at the Avista pond in Spokane. Meet & Greet Friday night before the event.Regards,
Matt

Matt, I have a thought.
From my experience having organized and put on many shooting competitions, Asking everyone if they want an event works.
Asking when does not because everyone has a different date in mind.
I found that I asked to find out if there was interest and then I looked at other events and found a non conflicting date and just set it.
Promoted it and did it.
Turned out my smallest event was about 45 competitors.
My larges required me to have a waiting list for cancellations.
The range I used could accommodate 120 competitors per event.
My thoughts would be to Choose a date, and put it on.
Given the lead time you have, everyone in the area and from farther away will know and plan if they think they can make it.
Be sure to make a list of those who say they are coming.
I published this list so others could see who was coming which seem to help some decide to come so as not to be left out with friends.
Watch out for normal holidays that are family holidays.
