I am in search of SubTech FSB1 manual for a repair I am working on. Looks Like Mike's E-Switch4 is similar or the same.
Photos of instructions or PDF would be so helpful!
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
Tom, are the pump and solenoid wired in parallel?
This vies the same voltage to both.
In series, the voltage is reduce significantly.
================
I will look in the shop tomorrow.
I should have the instruction sheet out there.
Since starting the Gato build, I have opened a one of these packages. I think that is what it was.
I guess this wiring depends on whether you need to open or close the solenoid when the pump runs or does the pump run on one signal and the solenoid on the other signal.
Do you know what the FSB stands for? I have a hunch that it is Fail Safe Ballast.
If so, the function of the electronics would be to allow actuation of the air pump from the transmitter. On detection of lack of signal (turn the tx off) it should then actuate the solenoid which would be tied to a "one shot" propel tank, to blow ballast and surface the boat. I know Skip had a system that did that, just don't recall what he called it.
The jumper may well be to change the pump output from momentary to latching.
I'll keep looking.

Jim,
Thank you! That is exactly what it does. It is an electrical switch that accepts two outputs. On a three way switch (or in this case a dial) one way it turns on the pump to put air into the bladder and the other direction to open solenoid, but I am not seeing the solenoid kicking off. If the dial is centered (or not 100% in either direction) the solenoid is closed and the pump is off. When the radio is turned off, the pump turns on - so that part functions. I wonder if the dial is not achieving a 100% on the solenoid side....hmmm. Maybe I will move it to a switch which is what Big Dave originally recommended. The unit in Dave's documentation says SES 1, if that helps.
In this photo (top half), I have one of the last Type VII tubes Big Dave sold (if not the last one).
Peace,
Tom

Jim,
smack my head, no I did not check if the solenoid worked.....I just assumed it was at the SES/FSB/whateveritiscalled. I have some work to do if I get home at a decent hour. Including reversing the radio channel. Brilliant!
You are the best.
Thank you.
Peace,
Tom
