    Delphin

I had thought that I made a topic on this boat but, I guess not.

Work continues on the delphin as we speak.

All the cad for the craft has been completed.

The hull has been turned and sent off for molding.

The appendages just came back from the cnc and are ready to be cleaned up and drilled of the control shafts

Now I am working on a deal to get the canopy and case made using a rapid prototyper.

Hope to have this project come to completion before summer next year.

      Re: Delphin

I forgot to mention that the boat is in 1/10 scale. Its a bit bigger but I thought it would offer more opportunities then the slightly smaller version. Especially considering I want this to be an easy build for all you guys building your own homegrown wtcs. It will be a great first boat and a fun one to drive. I will be making mine with a dynamic cylinder and as big a motor as possible without spinning it in the water

Some one mentioned a sub race at carmel

It will be quite a challenge to stay sub, and not go tomahawk, I guess...

It is really not much larger than mine as I have seen the plug.
It should be much easier to get back at the motor too.
Plus if you have the ballasting correct it does not take much to keep them under.
          Trust me!
They handle like a Lotus on rails.
          Which I know sounds like a oxy-moron.
As anyone knows a Lotus already handles like it is on rails.
I used to own a Europa back when Bigdave was not so big! BD.

Norbert has done a 1/10th Delphin too. Impressive performance in the video on a 1000kv speed 500 motor running on four lithium cells (not sure on cell chemistry so that may be either 12.8, 14.4 or 14.8 volts)

              Very nice!
I see he went with the correct wider rear stablilizer this time.
The real ring seal is definitely a plus too. Cool Stuff!! BD.

Europa! That's the one you lay on the ground face down next to and then roll over to get into! Not only smaller, BD, but much shorter, too, I suspect! There were a couple of squidboys on base had them. They didn't drive them much, though.

They had better drawings to work from. The hull shape is more elegant than the earlier 1/12th scale model, and the pod/capsule is more streamlined.

It's a shame that the little 1/12th scale kit was discontinued though, it was a great boat for beginners and experienced modellers alike, not too expensive, and a handy size.

That must be the one Bill.
Although there was plenty of leg room.
They were almost up to the front wheels though. Ha!
It weighed about 1500 pounds and made good use of its 115 HP.
The engine had a 7500 RPM red line.
Face it, it was a fiberglass body Go-cart!
When it ran (Lotus) "Lots of trouble usually serious" it was great fun! BD
