Hello to all fellow captains,I have just almost completed this model and have found it to be the finest, funest and best for $350.00 kit of the Rusian Akula II I have ever seen even in muesems.
I still have to install the ECM and comunication mast arrays that are in themselves a work of art and to scale.
The dry transfer sheet provided is easy to use and once applied can be sealed with a low gloss clear coat to protect it from the elements, highly recomended.
The make SEM has a low gloss elastomeric spray that works realy well.
The prop that is on now is the RC one not the display one.
The bow planes are very thin to scale so be carefull when drilling the shaft for movement.
This sub uses the pump system with a rigid ballast tank ,and runs for about 2.5 hours and is extreamly fast! No I dont use any special motors or speedcontrols just a sealed water cooled heat transfer coils useing anti freez as coolant to keep motor and speedcontrol cool ,that way the baterry also lasts much longer and the can 12 volt motor geared 3.5 to 1 and man youve got a torpedo if you like ,but for scale ops a leasure cruise is proper when needed.See image of powerplant and geared coolant pump and the new type of pressure hull I have developed.I already busted the rudder on a rock but shes alright now.
Well enjoy the pics and build one of these beuties![img] <img src=[/img]http://i82.photobucket.com/albums.....G]http://i82.photobucket.com/albums....MG]
