Work is slowly progressing to install plywood supports to stabilize the polystyrene master hull sections. Scribing and super detailing will begin very soon!
Jeff LaRue has been assisting me with the research and correction of the errors with the Marlin hull kit. There have been many additional errors discovered after review of the shipyard prints. The main error lies in the width of the main deck. it is much too wide in spots and must be narrowed to its proper scale outline. Due to this and many other scale challenges, the Marlin project has been placed at the end of the line to be released. We are now looking at a 2015 Re-release for this kit.
Thanks! Yes, they are great kits. Skip really did a nice job with them. We're busy tweaking them here and there to get them precisely on scale. Not much left to do...
I am starting the detailing of the GRP parts for the new Albacore kit. I have quite a bit of information on the boat that Skip had collected over the years, and some of my own, but not much on the lower hull detail. Does anyone have docking plans for the Albacore that they would be willing to part with? I am happy to pay for them, as well.
This kit is nearing completion and will be ready soon. I just have a few minor details to clean up such as the lower hull. I have secured some help with the glass work so I will be relieved from the exposure so I will continue the kit work as long as I have reliable help.
Nope. Been distracted by other things. No progress to report. I should be back on the few projects I have on the bench late this fall. Until then the shop is idle while I attend to more pressing matters.
I have made some progress over the Christmas break. The deck work is almost complete and I should have the prototype over to Jeff LaRue for completion of the PE deck work by Mid Summer. I know this is still more delay, but I am shooting for an early fall release for this boat. My AMS (advanced modelers disease) has really gotten the best of me on this boat.
