    1/72 Thor Akula - pre-production peek

The picture is a little small, but for those of you who would like to see how big the 1/72 Akula is,go to my homepage. I have a preproduction hull parked next to my 1/72 Alfa for size comparison.
Belive me,there is room to add any kind of features to this hull. It is an epoxy hull. The production hulls will come scribed and with the hull lips, like the Alfa.

        Wayne-
        your work area is entirely

        Wayne-
your work area is entirely too neat. I can't even see my work bench top. It looks like you could serve dinner off yours.

          Hi Tupolev,

          Go to the new

          Hi Tupolev,

Go to the new feature - SC member homepages on the SC main home page- item bar on the left, seven lines down. Click on that and go to 'all' on the far left of the alphabetized letters. Find Wayne Frey and click on it.

Hope you will start a SC member home page for yourself too!

I agree with Reichart, too darn neet. We will have to refer to your work shop from now on as Severodvinsk west!

          Regards,

          Steve Reichmuth

                  Yes to both.
It will have to wait for now. The Alfa is a priority build first.
I am studing the beast though, in the back of my mind, on how to tackle it.
Meanwhile, I am learning much while working on the Alfa. The others that follow will benifit from it.
Unbelivable amount of interior space. WOW !

                    I can see the size

I can see the size of it from your pictures Speaking of torpedoes, are you planning to use the gas method or making electric ones? I heard about Engel conning tower mechanisms, I don't know if there is any for the Akula..... seems to be one for the Typhoon.

                      I am excited about all

I am excited about all the room inside this hull. There is room to try all kinds of ideas. It just seems natural to add a few gizmos in her.
Gas torpedos , I think. Working masts? At least! I would really like to see a camera through the scope. But, getting carried away is an easy thing to do.
As I stay on my Alfa right now, I am thinking of how I will do the Akula.
One thing for sure, it is cruiser size !
I will change my homepage every week or two, I think, for those who want to see where I am at on the projects. Once done with the Alfa , I will post the Akula. Any changes or ideas , or mistakes, can be followed.
Doing a frequently updated homepage showing work in progress would be a great idea for all members to do.
That way we can nose around and see some ideas

here is the scope mechanism for the Engel Akula

But Wayne would have to put in a square WTC. for this to work.
