May not have that many spare/extra shirts in those sizes. I will review the list of of extras and see what can be done. I am always looking. PM me or e-mail a list whenever you have time.
To alleviate parking issues for the fun run and RC boat participants, we will have parking access at the garage adjacent to the pond for Saturday Aug 8th. This access is limited to the RC sub and boat folks only.
Therefore we will need volunteers to make sure that others don't park there. We are asking for each volunteer to guard the garage for one hour each, with the shifts ending at noon.
Don Spielberger has already volunteered for one shift. This means that we need 4 more volunteers. Volunteers are asked to please notify me as soon as possible by posting a response to this thread.
Travel Advisory from my trusted sources in Carmel tell me that there is a minor issue near the Hilton Garden this year. Please see info below:
There is construction in Carmel on the hotel side of town. As you drive North on 31, normally you'd turn on Carmel Dr South of the hotel by Meijer. That intersection is closed so you continue North and there is an exit right next to the hotel which makes it easy. There is not problem getting to the pond or going North to the restaurants.
This year we are again having the Captain's Choice awards. Each registered Captain will be given a ballot to vote for the boat of their choice. All subs are eligible for this award except for last year's First Place winner, Kevin McLeod's Oscar.
The awards will be given out Saturday after the raffle. See awards below:
Friday August 7th there will be unofficial meet and greet at the Veterans Memorial Reflecting Pond, 760 3rd Avenue SW (the usual pond). Come chat with your sub buds and run a boat. Typically we meet there after supper. There will also be an unofficial night run for those who are interested.
The Torpedo Plaques will again be given to all registered Captains, and also available for sale at $3 each for those who want extras. See below:
This year we are going to hand out the following Fun Run Info sheet at the registration table. One thing not mentioned is the time for the group picture. It will be mentioned at the Captains Meeting.
Chris Campbell has arranged for a Boy Scout group to do hot dogs on Saturday. They are going to have chips, pop, water, and possibly homemade cookies. The usual farm market will also be open till about 11:30 across the street.
Sunday is not firmed up yet but Pizza Hut was contacted. They can do one of the following: med pizzas any way you want them for $6.99 in multiples of 2 (4, 10, 22 - not 13) OR large pizzas anyway you want them for $9 but the min order is 15. 20oz pop is $2. They are located right around the corner but will deliver.
There is still the option of traveling to a local restaurant of your choice.
Thanks Chris for arranging the food for us this year.
There may be some more traffic delays for those traveling on I-70 & I-270 through or around Columbus, OH. Earlier in the week a tank truck carrying ethanol caught fire on I-270 under the I-70 overpass. Repairs are expected to take about a month. More info at ODOT.
Ohio DOT got the overpass and underpass repaired last week ahead of schedule. There is some construction on I-270 NW of Columbus, but it is not expected to cause any delays.
We have had another great run here in Carmel! Weather was great and the pond was perfect. I just wanted to thank all of the folks who stepped up to help set up the tables, run the raffle, provided butter tarts, donated raffle prizes, and bought lots of raffle tickets. Also wanted to thank the Indy Admirals for all of their support, especially Chris Campbell, Gene Weisner, and Dave Hampton.
It was our pleasure to help out but it was a team effort that made this event a real success. Don Spielberger, SubRon8, Chris Campbell, Indy Admirals, SubComOn, and everyone who showed up made this event successful. Many thanks to Christy for helping sell tickets, Helen, Brenda, Don Spielberger for guarding the garage and for everything else you did.
