I have a comment!!
Thank you CI for being the point man for the regatta.
That means that if something goes wrong we 8-balls can point at you and say.
"He did it!" BD.

A HUGE thank you to the Eight Balls for stepping up to the plate - I know this will be the best SubRegatta yet.
I made my reservations on the Hilton website and it worked perfectly. Nancy and I are coming in on Thursday evening and staying until Monday morning checkout. (BTW - Nancy loves to shop so if any other wives / GFs are coming, I'm sure she'd be happy to join in on an expedition to the nearest Mall on one of the days!)
BTW - August 4th is my birthday, if anyone would like to buy me a nice new sub kit for a present!
If I can make it, and fly in, how do most people transport their subs? Do you ship them in or trust baggage handlers (images of gorillas come to mind - apologies to any members that may be baggage handlers)?
Thank you.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
My 1/96 Blueback travels in an arrow case. Room enough in there for the boat and transmitter, stand, and a couple extra batteries. Fits in the overhead just fine.
I've also used in the past a length of PVC pipe, both split to make an opening case, and left round with end caps.
Other than the funny looks you get, no problems. A few suggestions:
1. If you have a gas boat, remove the valve core from the ballast filler. Do NOT carry Propel thru security at the airport.
2. Let the folks at the scanner know you have an R/C model in the case before they run it thru the x-ray. This cuts down on the "excitement" factor.
3. Carry an old issue of the SCR, just in case they get really curious about you being legit.

Registration fee will be $10 as last year, T-shirt prices the same, and Saturday evening session will be in the tent prior to the night run, and I am still looking for someone to give a seminar talk then. A Paypal registration site is in the works, and I will update the info thread shortly, which will include a registration mail-in address for those without Paypal. There will definitely be raffles held on Saturday and Sunday.
