A little birdie tells me that we're not going to have an obstacle course this year. PLEASE tell me this isn't so. This is the premier sub event of the year. Do we really want to turn it into a glorified fun run?

I have to agree 110%. Though i've never run the course, it is (in my own eyes, anyway) one of the key events that make the Regatta stand out from all the rest. There are plenty of folks who look forward to it each year. There are rookies who probably get exciting about trying to prove their skills, as it were, to go head to head with some of the vets.

If its a matter of money regarding plaques, use paper certificates. If it's a matter of logistics, there's no doubt someone will step up to the plate and make it happen. If it's a matter of \'we just dont want to bother with it\', well, thats not an excuse.

Last year we only had a handful of people run the course we had set up so there will not be a course in the water when you arrive.

I agree with Skip that this is a great venue to run this type of event but those that actually put there sub in the water to complete the course are few in number. It would be no problem on Saturday morning for those that want to have a running competition, to get something in the water. What I would like to do is have those interested get together and set up something they can all agree upon. We will have everything needed at the pond if wanted.

If some of you want to design something ahead of time to set up, I'm all for it. We'll have waders at the pond to use and you can have it going in less than an hour.

Ok, so it was looking like I would not be able to make it, but I am in....

Just made reservations.

Starting to make lists of crap to bring with me.

I'll gladly do the obstacle course, although we all know that Skip will win it...

For those staying at the host hotel, Hilton Garden Inn, register your room number at the front desk for the first raffle of the weekend. If you remember, there will be 2 winners for free breakfast for the room on Saturday and Sunday for all people in the room. Each room will have just 1 entry in the raffle, not 1 for every person in the room. The hotel offered this so make sure you thank them.

On Saturday morning after unpacking, go to registration to get your name tags, register (if you haven't done so already which is a big help), and pay the entry fee of $5 a person (not per boat). I know we'll all have a great time this year. Food served at lunch this year will be pulled pork sandwiches!!!
