The weekend of June 18, 2010 - Build the Argonaut Junior

Not exactly a subregatta, but certainly an event for bubbleheads!

What if Simon Lake were alive now and needed to build the Argonaut Jr. in one day? Could it be done and how would he do it? We plan to find that answer. And have some fun too. You are invited to join in the fun. The weekend is June 18th - 20th, 2010, in Tulsa Oklahoma. Come Git 'er Done!

In 1894 Simon Lake built a 14' submarine out of yellow pine as a proof of concept of his airlock for future investors. Here's your chance to help build a 1]http://www.submarineboat.com/argonaut_jr_2010.htm[/url]

Doug and Kate Jackson, the folks with whom I am working to build a working, diving replica of Simon Lake's initial opus, have created a quick video.

Kate is a teacher - She and Doug- using the static model they built (I am working on an RC version) plan on using the video, the model, and the real sub to educate children about the history of SUBMARINES - thus "Sub Monkeys".

It's only 2 1/2 minutes... ENJOY the video (especially the music - you WILL get goosebumps), and come join us in Tulsa in June to build Argonaut Junior 2010. See the above posting for the details.

Here's the full size Argonaut Jr model. Should be ready for her first dive by the end of June!
