Hotel - DoubleTree $90 rooms are all booked - Check around

[b]FOR OUR "IF YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE" Department]

I just got an email stating that the block of DoubleTree rooms we had reserved for $90 per night are now all gone. (This looks to be a record attendance SubRegatta - there are now over 100 people pre-registered). The DoubleTree still has a few rooms at a higher rate however.

At any hotel you try, be sure to request AAA Club rates (if you are a member) or AARP (if you are a member).

Other hotels in the area are -

    The Carmel Comfort Suites
Be sure to ask for discount if you have your AAA card.
    Free breakfast -
15131 Thatcher Lane, Carmel, IN, US, 46033

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Hotel - 'El Cheapo (MOTEL 6)... $39 / night.

For those of you who need a cheap place to stay, here is a note from Chris Campbell - SC member who lives in Carmel Indiana and is president of the Indy Admirals...

"The Motel 6 has a $39 rate for all three nights. The hotel is a $39 place though. This is the cheapest in Carmel and is about 10 minutes away from the pond. Chris Campbell " AT THIS LATE DATE THE $39 ROOMS MAY BE GONE TOO...
(Note - Virgil Brown stayed at this place recently and he said the rooms were clean and were just fine for the budget minded traveler.)

NOTE - The Motel 6's address is 9402 Haver Way, Indianapolis, IN 46240

(Book directly through www.orbitz.com -note that Orbitz.com rates this as a ONE STAR - out of 5 - facility)

ALSO SEARCH www.travelocity.com for Carmel, Indiana. You will come up with a lot of Indianapolis Hotels, but if you do a Mapquest on the address, you will see that many of them are less than 10 miles from the pond - in many cases less than 5 mi. The ponds address (for Mapquest.com purposes) is 802 3rd Ave SW., Carmel Indiana 46032

    CAMPGROUNDS

There are several in the general area - I don't have any email info or websites for them so "let your fingers do the walking..." or check out your “Woodall’s Campground Directory”

    Tim,
    I case anyone is

    Tim,
I case anyone is interested, we (The whole Rochester gang) are staying at a Super 8 in Castelton. It is only 9 miles from the pond. The rates were good, but I am not sure if any rooms are still available. Here is a link. Dave.

      I just found out that

I just found out that Dave Keogh, the new owner of SubTech, and his wife, will not be able to attend the SubRegatta. Air fares from the UK are ridiculous this time of year! As a result, I have a room available at the Wyndham which is only a short distance from the pond. This room is pre-paid at $70/night (Friday, Saturday) for a total of $156.26 which includes tax, etc. Anybody interested?
