2024 9th Annual Carmel R/C Sub Fun Run Wrap Up:
This year the 2024 Camel R/C Sub Fun Run was again held at the
beautiful Veterans Memorial Reflecting Pond. The weather was
absolutely perfect for both days. We had over 25 Submariner Captains
present with over 45 R/C Subs on display with many running in the pond.
Chris Rueby and Kevin McLeod gave us great presentations for
the “Learn” portion of the “Lunch and Learn” held on Saturday.
Thank YOU to Don Spielberger and Loyalhanna Dockyard for paying
for the pizza and Bob and Helen Gesking for finding the good pizza
place and arranging to have it delivered! No one went hungry!
The Raffle table was again full of great prizes and the Swap Table
was also again full of all sorts of goodies for sale.
Many Subs were in the water on patrol.
The Captain Choice Awards and Jeff LaRue U-Boat awards were
also presented on Saturday. Sunday was a great day to run Subs
and win raffle prizes.
A big Thank YOU goes out to the all the Indy Admirals, especially
Gene Weisner and Dave Hampton who helped arrange for our use
of the reflecting pond, the Tents down by pond, the Sub Launcher,
the extra trash cans at the big tent, and the portable speaker system!
Thank YOU goes out to Chris Campbell for arranging our Hotel
arrangements, gathering any Raffle donations, setting us up with the
town permit and graciously drawing the winning tickets for the raffle.
Thank YOU to all who helped with the behind the scenes efforts.
Registration, T-Shirt design, T Shirt ordering, Electrical setup,
goodie bags, registration badges, frequency control, pizza ordering,
reserving the Tent, tables and chairs, and anyone else we
might of forgotten.
This year presented a different challenge as the Tent company
decided to increase their rates. Normally, the Raffle and registration
fee pays for this event.
As a result, we ended up increasing the registration fee and
(Co-Chairman) Don Spielberger, was able to secure 3 EVENT Sponsors:
KMC Designs, Loyalhanna Dockyard, and Precision Pattern
These EVENT Sponsors donated a monetary amount to bridge
the gap of the rising cost of the tent, table and chairs.
Thank YOU to Raffle Venders: Loyalhanna Dockyard, OTW Designs,
and RTL Fastners for their generous Raffle donations.
And finally, THANK YOU to all who bought raffle tickets and
donated to the raffle!
Without the support of ALL who generously donated to the raffle table,
bought raffle tickets, and the Event Sponsors, it would have been
difficult to hold this great event.
