Next SubRonLA Run Scheduled for September 11th

We remain a democratic squadron, so if it turns out there are major scheduling conflicts among members, this date could still wind up revised. But for now, SubRonLA plans to hold its next all-squadron meet on Saturday, September 11th at the usual place and time. Get in touch for details if you need them, and I hope you can join us!

    Keep a level bubble,
    Jeff

Planning on being there. Not sure what sub to bring........
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Well I was doing precombat checks and my 6 channel 75mHz mini receiver went out. Anyone have one I could buy off them this weekend?

I don't really have a preference for cheap or expensive, just want it to work, but it does have to be small to fit in a 2.5 in tube. I have power across the pins but the signal is not getting through for control. I have the vex controller from Nautilus to pair it with (75.85). I don't think the crystal is bad but don't really know how to check. It does have to be 6 channel, and prefer side pins.

                    Finded.
Do you you need a standard crystal adapter for the transmitter too.

I have charged all the batteries.

Thought I would test the barge to make sure it was ready.
Turns out, it is not ready.

The main motor does not run. (found a disconnected power wire)

And the rudder servo turns to full left and sticks.

I am gong to have to put the barge on the work bench early tomorrow morning and see what I can find.
Good thing it only uses 2 channels.
Should be easy enough to trouble shoot.

As long as it is not the Rx.
Will test that with other servos first.

Better check the Akula and maybe the Skipjack as a back up rescue boat.

In to the shop early this morning with the rescue barge.
While waiting for the soldering iron to heat up, I got to thinking about the last time at the lake.
                              Then it came to me.
One of the other boats was having radio issues.
I took my Tx over and I changed the channel to match the other boat.
My Futaba(s) have the modules in them that you can choose any channel.
With my 10X loop I looked at the 2 setting screws.
Sure enough, I had left the radio on the other boats channel.
                              67. The barge is on 74.
Still waiting for the soldering iron, I change the channels while looking through the loop.

Soldering iron is hot and I repaired the loose motor wire. (did a better connection job this time)

After fixing the wire, I unplugged the rudder servo and motor power in the barge.
I plugged in 3 test servos in to the Rx.
Turned on the Tx and then the Rx.
                              The servos jumped.
Not sure which way because I did not put control horns on them.
So I put 3 control horns on the servos so I could see them move.
                              Rudder channel - good
                              Motor channel - good.
                              Third channel was also good.
                              Turn off Rx.
                              Unplugged test servos.
Plugged in rudder and motor servos.

                              Both work correctly.
Centered rudder servo and motor servo.
Motor servo is off by one mark.
It was that way originally so it is not a problem to remember that 1 mark down from center is full stop.

Barge deck is now on and the barge is in it's transportation box ready to go.

Only thing left is to gather up tools for the lake tool box.

The issue as it is most of the time was operator error or forgetting to change the channel back to the one I use.
