Coming to Carmel via I-70 West through West Virginia? A warning...

There is some pretty major construction projects in my area all happening at the same time. Suffice it to say I-70 Westbound thru the WV northern panhandle is a nightmare.

    Here's what to do:

As you pass the state line into WV on I70, after a few miles you will reach The Highlands, a hilltop shopping mega center. You'll see Cabelas as you pass it. As soon as you pass that area, GET IN THE LEFT LANE, which will split off from the right lane and actually take you to a lane up next to the eastbound traffic. You will come out of that single lane stint and then keep in the left lane again to go I-470 West, up over the hill, and which will end you up back on I70 proper around St. Clairseville, OH. Once you're there, it's smooth sailing to Indiana.

Our state, in it's infinite wisdom, has finally decided to inspect and repair all bridges along I-70 in West Virginia.... AT THE SAME TIME! You can only make it a few miles past Cabeleas before you are detoured off the interstate 70 into a hellacious detour. The tunnel and surrounding bridges will be closed. Don't mess with all that. Take I-470 West up and over the hill.

When you go by the big McDonald's "M" in the sky on your way down the hill, give a little wave. That's basically exactly where I live.

Yikes! Here in NY they usually wait for all the bridges to fall down... Couple of years ago we switched to using 30 across Ohio, north of 70. Slightly longer but not a main truck route, very little traffic.
