Summer Two-Day Run announced for SubRonLA

    Hi guys,

Dates were discussed at our last run and it was decided that SubRonLA's Second Annual Two-Day Fun Run shall take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 28 & 29, at our usual spot in Yorba Regional Park in Anaheim. Please mark your calendars and make your plans. Dave Marquez tells me he (and probably Mark Jones) will make the trip down from San Francisco to join us again, and Tom Chalfant (the SC's proud new V.P.!) is already planning to be on hand from Vegas too. Perhaps others might consider some summer travel to swell our ranks? As I've said in the past, Southern California beckons with all kinds of touristy enticements; if any out-of-staters coming to town for the weekend could only join us for one day while partaking of other local delights on the other, we SubRonLA stalwarts would certainly understand. (Tim Senecal, I have you in mind!)

Hoping to see lots of skippers at our pond this summer,
    JeffP

I’m looking for someplace to operate my rc subs and share the experience. Does anyone show up outside the scheduled run, when? Thanks, Ed

      Good afternoon, Ed.

Mike Dory and Will Oudmayer (pioneers in this hobby) are part of this group. (they have been running at this lake for some time and got permission for us to run submarines there)
They usually run submarines once a week.
      Yorba Regional Park

On the map, you can see the large green roof shade roof just left of center.
Going left from there, you can see 3 smaller shade roofs.
We gather at the small roof to the right. (center of the three)
In the small cove in the lake there is a small dock under the trees.
There are several picnic table that we can use.
The water has always been clear to at least 15' out.
The bottom near the dock is about 4' to 5'.
The edge is about 16". I know because I have been able to recover bow planes that have been knocked off.
      Gates open at 7am.
The gate is in the upper right corner of the map image. ($5 for the day to enter)

June's gathering was 10 or so boats.

I’ll come out this weekend, Saturday or Sunday? I don’t have anything to put in the water, have a Engel Akula II on order and a Neptune SB-1 that I’m rebuilding, waiting on receiver, converting it to a VEX.
        Thanks, Ed

          Ed,
The next schedule gathering is July 28 and maybe the 29th.

Maybe Mike Dory will post whether he and Will will be there this weekend.
I will send a message to Mike and see what he has to say about this weekend.

I do know, there are a couple of out of town events being prepared for.

Ed, I have heard back from Will and Mike, they do not plan to be at the lake this weekend.

Looks like our normal gathering date will be the next time.
I will keep you informed on this thread.
I am sure Jeff will post the date once it is set.
