At last year's raffle I selected a 1/32 Brooklyn tug hull donated by Don. I ended up not using it and still have it. I also purchased plans for the boat as well. Is it incorrect procedure to recycle raffle items? Basically, is it OK to re-donate the hull for this year's raffle? I wouldn't want to see it sit on a shelf and not be used.
At SubRegattas in years past, I can recall that there were some nice technical discussions given for those who attended. I believe these were held at the event's hotel(I have some tapes from the 90's I believe although I didn't actually get to see one in person)and I was wondering if there were some attendees at this years event that might be willing to give a general or specific discussion on the submarine hobby to those of us with little experience. I certainly enjoyed last years one on ones at the meet and would appreciate learning from all of the experts that will be attending. For myself, I would like to learn more about my transmitters and how they can be set up to produce good performance. Along with about every other topic that involves r/c submarines. Any thoughts if this could be done during the meet? I immensely appreciate all of the help I have been getting so far.
Thanks...
At this point there are no formal seminars planned due to lack of volunteers. We also enjoy the techinal seminars.
We can ask around on Saturday to see if anyone is interested in a simple question and answer seminar, or just a r/c submarine topic discussion. We can meet back at the pond under the tent after Saturday dinner before the night runs.
The Boy Scouts have had to cancel so we will have to either set up pizza or sandwich delivery for Saturday and Sunday or folks can go to restaurants of their choice. We will decide tomorrow.
Bought a 32nd Parallel Type VIIc from a Dave at the Swap table. If you can contact me, I'd appreciate it. Sorry, I couldn't remember your last name.
Thanks,
Bob H.
For us that couldn't be there, any photos and updates?
I know there will be a write up, but please share with those that could not be there! (Am I whining enough?)
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
Pics to follow tomorrow. Great time as usual. Event was a success due to everyone pitching in to help.
This year we had a thirteen year old boy convince his parents to bring him to Carmel so he could learn about RC subs. I let him run my boats after giving him a short lesson he ran like an expert. He and his dad talked to many captains and learned a lot about different ballast systems. His mom bought him an event shirt and some raffle tickets. He won a plastic UBoat kit I donated and some other goodies he will need to get her running with helpful guidance from folks. Two members won tickets to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and they both gave them to him.
We told him we expect to see him next year running his boat. I know he and his parents had a great time, and they all appreciated all the help and support we gave him. I think we may have a new Subcommittee member in the near future. Thanks to all who helped him this weekend.
