      Which river, BD? Which boats? Cobia was built here in Groton. The South ways building is still there. The North ways are now all enclosed in the 260 building, the big green one visible from everywhere around Groton. The South yard had open ways that were taken down after the war. That's our big material area now.

          I believe they use to build fleet boats in WI and launch them sideways into the river. BD

              The Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company was located about a mile up river at the big bend. On the map, Man Ship Co is the peninsula inside the black lines. The museum is the red box at the river's mouth. A couple of aerial views of the yard. The color photo is looking towards the east. The B&W photo is looking towards the west.
