For those who have attended either the Subregatta or any event at the Carmel Reflecting Pond have noticed the cement surrounding the pond cracking and coming apart. The city has approved replacing the cement with granite. The granite will start being delivered and installed in October and cost around $250,000. The entire replacement will take about a year.
This will not have any impact on future events at the pond but I wanted you all to be aware of the changes taking place to make the area even more beautiful that it is. A link to a local print article can be found below for you which includes a picture for those not familiar with the problem.
