    Type XXI plans

I just saw these and all I could say is WOW.

A friend who lives in my town commanded one of these.

I'll bet that he would love to have a copy of one or two to put on the wall.

        Ron,

Any chance it was the U-3008? I've been researching her as an r/c project.

          Jeff,
I got my XXI from Matt about 2 weeks ago and have been cutting all of the vents and drains that are needed in the hull. After studying the fine set of deck grills that you made for the kit,I got an idea! Would it be possible to get you to do the covers or louvers that I can see on a few pictures of the lower hull.Matt told me that these slots were flood holes to take the place of the flood holes along the keel as in the earlier boats.I dislike the appearance of the slots that appear in the hull on either side.It kind of gives me the unfinished look! The pictures that I have seen give me the impression of a louver or grill cover for the slot.

Matt told me to let him know if I thought of any improvements or changes that I thought to include in future kits and I thought that this would be an added attraction that might be included or sold as an after market item.

            Hi TD,

.....I believe that you are referring to the lower ballast grates?

When I was creating the hatches and grates for the upper hull of the Type XXI, I did consider making those lower ones as well. However since I could not figure out a resonable way to give them what I considered to the required 3-D look to them, I dropped the idea.

The good news is that I know someone that can provide a set of castings that properly replicate those grates. These were specifically made for the hull. Myles Yancey should be able to help you out.....

...not yet.....but I've heard some rumors (promises?) of some future kit enhancements.
