!/72 Gato main hull warpage is increasing over time!
Just a word to the wise. I've had my Gato Kit kicking around since Christmas. I had checked the main hull halves for fit and found a gap of about 1/4" at mid hull. I checked the fit last night and found a gap of Apr 3/8"!! THIS WAS NOT GOOD!! I placed the halves down on the carpet, put a weighted board on top and left it overnight. Presto! The gap had been reduced to about 1/4". The increasing warp is probably due to the casting stresses relieving themselves over time. To prevent a recurrence, I've dry assembled the halves with a few of the locating pins and wrapped the assembly with a tensor bandage to force the parts together. I am going to store them this way until I get to hull assembly time. It might be an idea to check your hull for fit if your kit has been in storage for a time.
